protagonist antagonist project ideas

Best friends fight:
Setting: living room then moves outside
Mood: happy then serious

Two friends sitting on a couch relaxing and talking about how they both need to find a girlfriend to go to homecoming with. They talk about some girls that they think they can get together with but are not really excited about any of them. So the friends go outside to play basketball and a girl walks by and says she is new to the neighborhood and would like to make some friends. So right there it becomes a competition between them to get the girl. They both try very different things to impress her like opening the door for her and taking her out to dinner and being friendly. Then they both ask her to homecoming and say she must pick one. This girl starts to ruin their friendship. But it turns out that she chooses neither of them and she chooses a different guy to go to homecoming with and they both end up not going and just hanging out with each other instead to try and save their friendship.

“Mashed potatoes”
Setting: inside a house
Mood: happy

Two friends are hanging out in one of their bedrooms and one of the friends finds a box of mashed potatoes in his room. So he asks his friend what is this doing in your room? The friend replies a little nervous saying that he doesn’t know how it got there. But his friend doesn’t believe him and asks him if he was doing mashed potatoes. His friend getting more nervous and starts to perspire a little bit says no. But his friend notices that he is sweating and that he has a nervous tone in his voice and says tell me the truth if you are or not. His friend starts to sweat bullets and takes a paper towel and wipes his forehead with it then wrings it out as sweat makes a puddle on the floor because he is perspiring so much and finally admits to it. His friend says you need help and I can help you if you would like. His friend says he will stop. But then a few weeks later he finds three mashed potato boxes in his room and tells his friend either it’s the potatoes or me pick one because I cant be friends with someone that is doing that kind of thing all the time and he walks out. His friend takes a few days and finally he tried to do mashed potatoes again but he couldn’t because all he was thinking about was how they were controlling his life and how they were costing him his friendship. So he goes outside and his friend is sitting on his porch and they talk and he says he is done with mashed potatoes for good because he would rather have a friend than mashed potatoes in his life.

  1. Robert, the first idea is really good. It's a perfect situation for conflict with humor and serious elements.

The trouble is, it's written like an outline of a story. It needs specific details. When you say "This girl starts to ruin their friendship" I understand what you mean, but I have no idea how you intend to SHOW that on video. Is it an argument between them? Do they specifically say "she is starting to ruin our friendship"? Or do they just spend less time with each other... maybe one of them calls the other but he ignores the call.

You have a great outline to work with. Now write it again with specific things happening on screen.
